Editorial / Advertorial
Editorial submissions are welcome. Advertorials will be subject to the prevailing published advertising rate for the space required. Editorial in conjunction with an advertisement will be subject to the first advertisement placed only. The following editorial policy applies to all content submitted for consideration of publication in the Tourism Tattler trade journal. The guiding principles for the Tourism Tattler are outlined in this Editorial Policy. Editorial integrity
The Tourism Tattler aims to uphold the highest professional standards and ethical principles related to providing tourism trade information, provided in an accurate, evidence-based and unbiased manner. Editorial Policy
The Tourism Tattler Trade Journal aims to bring to the Southern Africa tourism trade informative, objective, accurate and educational information on issues that impact on tourism stakeholders. Although material submitted by other tourism associations and representative bodies will be published by formal reciprocal arrangement, it is the Tourism Tattler’s policy to underline the functions that SATSA and RETOSA fulfill in the Southern Africa tourism industry. The Tourism Tattler’s goal is to ensure that the publication is a practical and relevant source for information to the tourism trade that is easy to read and understand. The Tourism Tattler is committed to providing information on a wide variety of tourism, hospitality and business tourism topics. The Tourism Tattler will provide the tourism trade with a better understanding of tourism issues, legislation and legal issues that impact on tourism and explanations of marketing and business principles that may help them to become knowledgeable and credible providers of services to tourists who visit the Southern Africa region. The Tourism Tattler adheres to the principles of fairness, accuracy, objectivity, and responsible, independent reporting. Review of content
While the content of the Tourism Tattler is contributed by professional and knowledgeable writers in the tourism industry, all content is reviewed by the appointed editors to ensure accuracy and significance and may be edited for style, flow, punctuation, appropriateness of language, and readability before being published. Criteria for content
Content is based on important and relevant tourism topics and events. The Tourism Tattler content is based upon the following criteria: Relevance: Topics regarding issues that are interesting, educational and important to the tourism trade and that could affect their businesses. The content should be unique in its relevancy, credibility, format, or style of its presentation. Accuracy: The content provides the reader with up-to-date, accurate and balanced information. Originality: The content must be the original work of the author and be especially relevant to the tourism industry, even though the article may have been the subject of coverage by other media organizations reporting on tourism issues within Southern Africa. Copyright: The content, including photographs, must not be subject to any copyright agreement or infringement and the author certifies to this fact by offering the content for publication. Editorial Subject Matter
Submission format
All articles submitted for publication must be between 400 to 1000 words and supplied in digital Word (.doc) file format and ideally supported with between 1 to 3 high-resolution (min 300dpi) digital photographs in jpg file format. As a general guide, a full page of text without photographs is 1000 words (with one photograph – 790 words) and a half page of text without photographs is 450 words (with one photograph – 350 words). Some content, such as advertisements and advertorials are subject to acceptance by the editor and may not be subject to this Editorial Policy. Disclaimer
